The Media Resembles Negative Impacts on Teenage Girls

We are constantly relying on the media. Whether, it's from watching television, using the internet, listening to the radio, or texting from our phones. The media is our resource. Although the media comes with many benefits, it also contributes many negative effects on teenagers, particularly teenage girls.

Through the media, girls are consistently being introduced to a materialistic world, a world where looks and glamour matter more than self value, portraying an unrealistic image that all girls must follow in order to be socially accepted. As result, these young women begin to put their appearance as their first priority; striving for a flawless body, perfect face, and ideal hair, leading many girls to suffer from depression. Due to their insecurities numerous girls initiate dieting, soon concluding to possible eating disorders. The influence of media has grave consequences.

In addition to pressuring girls into having a flawless image, the media also resembles women as sex symbols. The majority of advertisements publicize women in provocative clothing, as well as assigning them in sexual posses. As an outcome, teenage girls feel like they need to characterize themselves in a sexual way, to be considered "attractive".  The media influences them to grow up faster.

In conclusion, every girl should be proud of who they are and what they look like. They shouldn't feel the need to change themselves in order to satisfy others ideal opinion of true beauty. Everyone's unique in their own way. We are all beautiful.
